52/365 Primes 31 Limited Outdoor Portrait

I photographed Sarah a few months ago. Today we shot outdoors and I used the 77 Limited and the 31 Limited lenses.  I'm just posting a few from the 31 mm. Sarah and I with to an old bulding near my studio that the roof has disintegrated and has enjoyed a lot of grafitti and a few (apparantly) illicit parties.

Camera: Pentax K1

Lens: SMC Pentax FA 31mm f/1.8 Limited

ISO 400  31mm  f/1.8  1/1000th Hand held.

The 31mm lens wide open has a nice gentle bokeh. I like the way it renders.

ISO 400  31mm  f/5.0  1/50th  Hand held. Natural light.

This place is chaotic and I needed some lens blur to calm it down,  At f/5.0 I was able to get enough detail to tell the story without distracting to much from my subject.

This lot was ajacent to the ruined building.

ISO 1600  31mm  f/2.0  1/1000th Hand held.

This one came out a little soft but I love the feel of the weedy trees and the "lost" girl.  This was in the waning evening light.

33/365 Project 77 Limited vs 13 year olds!

I actually used 3 primes in the studio with this shoot. The 31mm f/1.8 Limited, the 50mm f/1.4, and the 77mm f/1.8 Limited. But chose to feature two portraits shot with the 77 Limited.

Camera: Pentax K1

Lens: smc Pentax-FA 77mm f/1.8 Limited

ISO 200, 77mm, f/11, 1/125th Hand held.

Two lights, one reflector.

ISO 200, 77mm, f/11, 1/125th Hand held.

Same basic lighting set up.

These two thirteen year olds had a blast doing a "modeling" shoot. I couldn't beleive their energy!

So...at f/11 the 77 Limited give quite a bit ofdetail. Of course it helps to have the 35MP full frame sensor.  Here is a very tight crop from the image above:

Now Shhhh! I haven't had the reveal session with these kids and their moms!

*24/365 200mm Portrait

The "*" is to signify that I didn't shoo today and that this post's photo is from another day.  The day I got the K1 I wanted to take it our right away and test it with the 200mm f/2.5 lens.  I bout the lens for portrait work, believe it or not.

Camera: Pentax K1

Lens: SMC Pentax 200mm f/2.5 K-series

ISO 200 f/2.5 1/250th

This lens on a full frame camera is going to be one of my favorite portrait lenses.

6/365 Primes 77 mm Baby Blessing

One of the problems I am facing in this 365 project is finding time to make purposful shots each day.  I took my 77 Limited to Leo's baby blessing. His father Tanner is my nephew. I mostly got a few "snaphots"

Camera: Pentax K1

Lens: Pentax SMCP-FA 77mm f/1.8 Limited Silver

ISO 400, 77MM, F/5.6, 1/13th Hand held shake reduction on.

Shake reduction did pretty well but the shutter speed of course did not freeze Leos hand. I find the colors to please me.  This lens should get a thorough work out on Thursday.
